Challenge

Samsung’s Gear VR was one of the first mass-market personal VR platforms, but was mostly used for just entertainment. For a company hackathon, I wanted to demonstrate how virtual reality could be leveraged to improve relaxation and sleep quality as well.

  • Assembled a cross-disciplinary team of programmers, writers, and artists to participate in a company hackathon
  • Leveraged proven medical research on factors that relieve stress and lead to better sleep patterns
  • Created a rapid prototype using Google Cardboard and YouTube VR
  • Built a full Gear VR Android app using the Unity 3D platform
  • Designed marketing concepts to promote to consumers

Concept for a marketing page, demonstrating its connectedness to the Samsung product ecosystem.
Each Dreamscape scene is designed with calming colors, music and words.
Homescreen UI of Dreamscape VR where users select their experience.
Users could add their own Dreamscapes using 3D video recorders.
